Insta-Wonderland: In flip-flops and swimming trunks to van Gogh

Day 1: Under the open sky

Action and relaxation on the beach: climbing, SUP riding or simply enjoying a cocktail in a deck chair - at Seaside Beach Baldeney you will definitely experience a sensational day with a view of the beautiful Lake Baldeney . If the view alone is not enough for you, you can later take a relaxed rickshaw ride around the lake. On the 14 km tour, you can learn a lot about how Lake Baldeney was formed or about the mining industry around it. In the evening, an absolute highlight awaits you when it comes to the view. From the Lil'Tiger rooftop lounge, you not only have an incredible view over Essen and the Ruhr region, you will also be spoiled with cocktails and good food.

Day 2: Art, Shopping & World Heritage

After such a relaxing day around the lake, you can have a good breakfast at the Museum Folkwang and admire the permanent exhibition with artists such as van Gogh, Monet, Czézanne, Picasso or Richter or visit one of the upcoming special exhibitions. In the Museum of the Year 2020 you can relax for a few hours before heading to the ‘Rü’ - one of the most trendy and popular shopping streets in Essen. Individual boutiques are worth a stroll, or you can have lunch in one of the trendiest little restaurants or simply enjoy a coffee in the shade of the Japanese cherry trees. If you happen to be on the Rü on a Saturday, you should definitely plan a stroll through the weekly market. But be careful not to be late! To round off your cultural day perfectly and get new top content for Insta, head to the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein in the afternoon. During a guided tour or a stroll through the colliery grounds, you can discover the most exciting industrial photo motifs. If you're still hungry for more, plan a trip to the Red Dot Design Museum at Zollverein. The largest exhibition of contemporary design in Europe awaits you here.
