The Old Catholic "Friedenskirche" in downtown Essen, right across from the Old Synagogue, was designed by the city's building officer Albert Erbe and built between 1914 and 1916. The interior design by Jan Thorn Prikker - restored after the destruction during the Second World War - and the Art Nouveau altar by A.O. Holubs are among the most distinctive features.
