Situated directly in the city centre, just a few minutes from the main station, the “Astra Theater” and its little cinema “Luna” are probably the most central cinemas of the Essener Filmkunsttheater (Essen Arthouse Cinemas). Both cinemas mainly show first-runs. But also many special series, previews, and original versions are shown. The large theatre and the foyer are obtained in the original 1950 style. Therefore besides the selected programme they offer a wonderful atmosphere for a very special cinema experience. It is also possible to rent the place for private events for example for lectures, presentations, receptions or workshops.
