Hunting for fossils and having a party with dinosaurs? You can do both at the Mineral Museum in Essen. This branch of the Ruhr Museum is particularly popular with families, because young and old alike become ‘researchers’ and can discover everything from the material composition of stars to the crystalline world inside our own bodies. The exhibition is in a listed former school building and admission is free.
