Leona Friedrichs and Ardalan Mirhadi bring discarded and leftover materials back to life in their studios. For example, craftswoman Leona Friedrichs combines brass scraps in a square frame to create an open composition. When light hits the metallic surfaces, they cast complex and changing shadows and reflections that redesign the space. Ardalan Mirhadi creates a large-scale sculpture from metal and wood, among other materials. Through the use of light and digital projection, the artist and designer transports the sculpture into a new dimension. Its surface is transformed into a living canvas on which digital patterns, colours and movements appear.
