To mark the 10th anniversary of the Essen Light Festival, visitors were invited to select their favourite artworks from previous years to be featured in the anniversary edition. One of these is the giant house of cards by artist duo Merav Eitan and Gaston Zahr from 2019. The dynamic installation, consisting of 126 oversized, illuminated playing cards and accompanying music, is a metaphor for our society. Each and every one of us is important and indispensable for maintaining the complex structure.
