From 15 November to 23 December 2024, you can once again look forward to magical Christmas moments in Essen's city centre. It's going to be a festival!

Sustainable Christmas Market

In the spirit of the "European Green Capital 2017", sustainability plays a major role at the International Christmas Market.

  • Only "green electricity" will be used.
  • All caterers will dispense with disposable plastic tableware for consumption on site.
  • There is a deposit system for cups and glasses.
  • There is an absolute ban on plastic bags.
  • The organisers attach importance to regional, fair trade and organic products as well as a good ecological balance when choosing traders.
